Sri Lankan Athletes Impress At Asian U18 Championships Despite Officials Negligence

Sri Lankan athletes continue to impress at the Asian U18 Championships despite negligence from their officials, a www.hirunews.lk reported.

In the 19-member squad, Janith Lakshan clinched the first medal for the nation — a silver — in the men’s triple jump with a distance of 15.10m.

Sewmini Fernando won the silver medal in women’s 100m event while Lahiru Achintha clinced a bronze in men’s 1500m event.

Additionally, Dananjana Sewmini Fernando won the silver medal in the girls under-18 100m with a time of 11:9:2 seconds.

The Asian U18 Championships was marred by negligence from Sri Lankan athletes which saw unfortunate withdrawl from Nidhuki Prathana and Ayesha Sewwandi from the 1500m event.
