Pakistan continues to produce the best fast bowlers from time-to-time.
After Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Shoaib Akhtar, rattled the best batters with pace, the current crop of Pakistan fast bowlers, include the trio of Naseem Shah, Shaheen Afridi, and Haris Rauf.
However, England all-rounder Mooen Ali, believes that the current trio are not the best in the world.
“This is the thing people have. Especially people with Pakistani backgrounds. They’ll say Pakistani seamers are the best. I’m like no, they’re not. They’re good, but they’re not the best,” he shared on the Beard Before Wicket podcast on YouTube.
“Naseem Shah, Shaheen and Haris Rauf are very good. We’re not saying they are bad, but they’re not the best,” he added.
One of the reasons Pakistan produces brilliant fast bowlers is that the youth starts playing with tape-ball in their backyard or gully. Involving themselves in tape-ball, allows the fast bowlers to learn to swing the ball, very early in their career.
“Pakistan have this thing where they do produce very good fast bowlers. Again, it’s something in their coaching system where they coach Pakistanis unbelievably well,” he commented.
After being knocked out in the group stage, Pakistan will tour New Zealand for a five-match T20 and three ODI match-series, starting from Sunday.
