The Figure Skating Federation of Russia (FSFR) submitted a list of skaters, who will participate in the Milano Cortina 2026 qualifying event, to the International Skating Union (ISU), a source in the FSFR told TASS on Friday.
“The list has been submitted to the ISU,” the source said.
This comes after the ISU Council announced their decision to allow athletes from Russia and Belarus to compete at Milano Cortina 2026 qualifiers under a neutral status.
The FSFR was told that they cannot put more than one entrant on the list of candidates for each figure skating discipline, including the men’s and women’s individual events, pairs and ice dancing.
The ISU will inquire into athletes’ to check whether they’ve a possible connection with Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine.
The deadline to submit the names was February 28.
“I have never said that their response should be awaited by this summer,” Russian figure skating coach Tatiana Tarasova. “We will see when the response comes, but at the moment there are no clear-cut dates.”
Italian cities Milano and Cortina will host the 2026 Winter Games. Beijing will host the Milano Cortina 2026 qualifying event between September 17 and 21.
