India’s Hashika Ramachandra and Akash Maini disappointed at the World Aquatics Swimming Championships 2024 in Budapest.
Ramachandra, 16, finished at the 39th spot in the 41 women’s 400m freestyle heats field on Tuesday with only the top eight qualifying for the final. She clocked 4:30.30, failing to better her national record set at 4:24.70.
The Karnataka teenager, later on Thursday, finished at the 30th spot out of 31 in the women’s 200m butterfly event with a timing of 2:25.88.
Maini, meanwhile, finished 45th out of 54 in the men’s 100m backstroke heat, clocking a time of 54.05 on Tuesday. He, however, set a national record at 24.87 in the men’s 50m backstroke event, finishing 46th among 51 swimmers.
