India’s two out of four pairs advanced to the Badminton Asia Championships 2025 Round of 16 after winning their first round matches on Tuesday.
Dhruv Kapila-Tanisha Crasto overcame a three-game thriller 15-21, 21-12 and 21-11 against Malaysia’s Hoo Pang Ron and Cheng Su Yin. After losing the first game, the Indian pair came back stronger to overcome the deficit.
Dhruv and Tanisha will now face Chinese Taipei’s Ye Hong Wei and Nicole Gonzales Chan in the Round of 16.
Meanwhile, it was a cake walk for Ashith Surya-Amrutha Pramuthesh, as they defeated Sri Lanka’s Thulith Palliyaguru and Panchali Adhikar 21-9, 21-11 in just 20 minutes.
Ashith-Amrutha will have their task cut out in the R16 as they will face top seeded pair of Jiang Zhen Bang and Wei Ya Xin from China.
Sathish Karunakaran-Aadya Variyath and Rohan Kapoor-Ruthvika Gadde lost to Malaysian duos.
