World Curling and Curling Canada on Wednesday announced that Calgary’s WinSport Event Centre in Canada Olympic Park will host the BKT Tires World Women’s Curling Championship 2026.
The prestigious event will take place between March 14–22 2026.
Canada Olympic Park is one of the key legacy facilities built for the 1988 Olympic Winter Games, and WinSport has previously been the venue of three World Curling competitions – the 2021 World Women’s and Men’s Curling Championships that took place behind closed doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the inaugural Pan Continental Curling Championships in 2022, an official World Curling media release said.
The venue, located on the west side of the city, boasts a 3,000-spectator capacity, making it an ideal location for world-class events.
“We are thrilled to have Calgary host the BKT Tires World Women’s Curling Championship 2026,” said Eeva Roethlisberger, World Curling’s Head of Competitions.
“This event will be the first major curling competition to come after the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games. Following the Games, we hope it will bring the competition increased visibility and new fans. I have no doubt that the organising committee in Calgary will deliver an outstanding experience for both our athletes and supporters.”
“It’s always a privilege and an honour for our country to host a World Curling Championship in partnership with World Curling,” said Nolan Thiessen, Curling Canada’s Chief Executive Officer.
“Calgary and the WinSport Event Centre have proven repeatedly in the past to be a great host for world-class curling events, and we have every confidence that the BKT Tires World Women’s Curling Championship 2026 will be another major success story.”
BKT Tires has been a proud partner of World Curling and Curling Canada since 2020. This marks the third consecutive world championship in Canada with BKT Tires as the title sponsor.
The 2025 edition of the event will take place in just under two months in Uijeongbu, Korea, with teams from around the world competing for the World Women’s title and the final vital points to qualify for the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games.
