Algerian Imane Khelif, whose gold medal triumph at Pairs 2024, was surrounded by gender disputes is not intimated by Donald Trump’s executive order to keep transgenders away from women’s sport.
Khelif, in fact, said that she is ready to defend her title at LA 2028. International Boxing Association blocked her to participate in the competition. But International Olympic Committee was in her favour.
The World Boxing, provisional body for the sport around the world, said that they will confirm a policy in week’s time to deal to bring a new gender policy.
World Boxing President Boris van der Vorst will work with “the scientific experts” to decide which athletes can participate in the World Boxing events.
Right now, Van der Worst, is taking a break to reflect on World Boxing’s achievements.
“It’s a privilege and not a right,” Van der Vorst was quoted as saying by the Guardian. “We still need to show the IOC we are the most credible international organisation and that we can organise the competition and secure financial stability. We have the governance structure policies in place to uphold the high standards they require from us.”
