India’s campaign received a boost as Manish Rathore (55kg), Abhinash Jamwal (65kg), and Hitesh (70kg) advanced to the World Boxing Cup 2025 semi-finals in Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil, on Wednesday.
The semi-finals will see six out of 10 male boxers still in action.
In the men’s 55kg bout, Manish defeated Olympian Yusuf Chothia of Australia 3-0. Yusuf used an unorthodox style in the first two rounds. In the third round, he started exhausted and started clinching.
The referee saw this and deducted one point, allowing Manish to make a comeback and unanimously win the final round.

Meanwhile, Hitesh and Abhinash clinched two close wins by unanimous decision.
Hitesh took down Italy’s Gabriele Rontani, having two cards with the perfect score of 30-27 and close 29-28 wins on the other three cards while Abhinash defeated his German opponent Denis Bril 29-28 on all five cards.
Hitesh, Sachin, Jadumani, and Vishal will be in action on Thursday.
