Aniket Verma is a 23-year-old right-handed batter from Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, who has recently gained attention for his explosive performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
Despite not having played senior representative cricket prior to the IPL, Verma’s domestic performances, particularly in the Madhya Pradesh Premier League (MPL), showcased his potential. In the 2024 MPL season, he amassed 273 runs in six innings, including a remarkable 32-ball century, and led the league with 25 sixes.
These achievements earned him a trial with SRH, where he impressed by scoring 72 runs in a six-over powerplay simulation and 64 runs in an eight-over chase scenario. Consequently, SRH secured him for his base price of INR 30 lakh in the IPL 2025 mega auction.
In his IPL debut against the Rajasthan Royals, Verma had a brief appearance, scoring 3 runs.
However, he made a significant impact in the subsequent match against the Lucknow Super Giants, scoring 36 runs off 13 balls, including five sixes. In a recent game against the Delhi Capitals, he scored his maiden IPL half-century, reaching 50 runs in just 34 balls.
Verma’s journey from domestic cricket to the IPL highlights his resilience and determination. After losing his mother at the age of three, he was raised by his uncle, Amit Verma.
He honed his cricketing skills at various academies, including Railway Youth Cricket Club and Ankur Academy, and currently trains at Faith Cricket Club.
Aniket Verma’s rapid rise and dynamic batting style have made him a player to watch in the ongoing IPL season.
