His knock was laced with five boundaries and as many sixes as an impact player, justifying his price tag of INR 3.80 crore after a bidding war between a number of franchises at the IPL mega auction.
Sharma is known for his whirlwind knock. He holds the record for fastest half-century by an Indian in 11 deliveries against Arunachal Pradesh while playing for Railways in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
His journey at the IPL began in the previous edition for Punjab Kings, where he notched up the scores of 31 off 17 balls, 33* off 15 balls, 31 off 16 balls, and a standout 61 off 28 balls. hese innings highlighted his ability to accelerate the scoring rate and finish games effectively.
The Ratlam-native began his cricketing journey representing Madhya Pradesh in domestic competitions. He made his List A debut on October 16, 2019, against Rajasthan in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
