On India’s 76th Republic Day 2025 celebration at the Kartavya Path on Sunday, the Veteranss tableau featured Indian Olympians and Paralympian in the traditional parade ceremony.
Murlikant Petkar, a gold medalist in the Heidelberg 1972, who is currently a part of the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME), Olympians Jitu Rai, a subedar major, double Asian Games medalist shot putter Tajinder Pal Singh Toor, and Colonel Balbir Singh Kular, a member of the India men’s hockey’s bronze medal-winning squad at 1968 Mexico, featured in the Veterans tableau.
The tableau carried the themed “Rashtra Nirman: Pehle Bhi, Ab Bhi, Aage Bhi Our Hamesha”.
The Republic Day Parade featured a 352-member marching and band contingent from Indonesia, with the Indonesian president Prabowo Subianto in attendance as the chief guest.
The theme of this year’s tableaux was “Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas”.
16 tableaux from across States and Union Territories, 15 from Central Ministries, and organisations were a part of Republic Day’s parade.
An official statement said that for the first time, a Tri-Services tableau rolled down the Kartavya Path, “displaying the spirit of jointness and integration” and a “Joint Operations Room facilitating networking and communication among the three Services.”
A total of over 8,000 security personnel were deployed and security was increased with the help of technology and human intelligence in the national capital.
