UCLA Bruins’ Jordan Chiles competed in the three events at the 2025 NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Season Opener at the Frontwave Arena in Oceanside on Saturday: vault, bars, and floor, delivering scores of 9.9+ on the first two and claiming the vault title.
Chiles displayed a new skill competing an intricate tucked vault to a near stick and a 9.90. She followed it up calmly by saluting the judges and then broke into a celebratory roar.
There was no streaming services available to view the competition.
“Very disappointed there will be no live stream. This is not growing the sport,” a fan shared on X in response to the news. “Coaches and universities participating in these neutral site events need to start insisting that there be live streaming before committing to participate. Gym fans across the country deserve better!”
At the American Gold Classic, Oregon State Beavers’ Jade Carey, claimed titles in he all-around, beam, and floor.
She brought her trademark difficult style to the podium, nailing her double-twisting double-back, a rarity in collegiate competition.
The American finished third place on the vault and bars, debuting a new skill, a Yurchenko style vault with one and a half twists.
The pair will return once again next week when Oregon State hosts the BYU in Corvallis, on Saturday.
