Denmark’s Holger Rune fell ill in the middle of his Round of 64 clash against Portugal’s Nuno Borges and was forced to retire.
As a result, the Portuguese advanced to the next round.
Rune had called a doctor for assistance after dropping the first set 2-6. He ultimately called it a match after facing a 0-3 deficit in the second game.
According to Infosys ATP Stats, the 2023 Monte-Carlo finalist won just 21 per cent of his second-serve points during the 42 minutes.
“I clearly saw that he wasn’t feeling great,” said Borges, who is now 1-2 in his Lexus ATP Head2Head series with Rune. “I stayed really focused on my game and tried to not give him too much. I thought I did a good job with that.”
