India’s long-distance sensation Gulveer Singh has bettered his own 10,000m National Record in in The Ten competition, an event on the World Athletics Continental Tour, by clocking 27:00.22 seconds in the United States.
The previous record held by the Hangzhou Asian Games bronze-medallist runner was 27:14.88 in Hachioji, Japan in November last year.
“Gulveer Singh clocks 27:00.22 to improve his national 10,000m record. He finished 6th at The Ten competition in USA on Saturday,” said the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) in a social media post.
The 26-year-old had reset the record twice last year, timing 27:41.81 seconds at San Juan Capistrano in California in March before bettering it in Japan.
He also holds the National Record in 5,000m with a time of 13:11.82 seconds set last year.
In some other results from the event, Kartik Kumar clocked his personal best timing of 28:01.90 in the 10,000m event while Rahul Harveer Singh had a timing of 3:41.10 in 1500m.
In the women’s events, Seema clocked 32:07.57 in the women’s event while Ankita finished the 1500m dash with a timing of 4:16.07
