Subedar Vishnu Saravanan, two-time Indian Olympian, clinched a bronze medal at the 2024 ILCA Asian Open Championship, which concluded with the closing and prize distribution ceremony at Haikou National Sailboat Base, Hainan, China on Friday.

“Ending the year by doing what I love. 2024 went by real quick. Looking forward to the coming year and wish everyone to have a great new year ahead,” Saravanan said in an Instagram post after the event.

Furthermore, he thanked the national body and hosts, saying, “And to the most important part, thank you to my family and the support from everyone around. @yachtingassociationofindia @media.iccsai @poptomato @yumiko.t.jpn_sailing @nethrakumanan”.

The event categories which featured at the Chinese Yachting Association & ILCA Asia-hosted continental championship were ILCA7 Men’s and Masters, ILCA6 Men’s/Youth Boys, ILCA6 Masters, ILCA6 Women/Youth Girls and ILCA4 Youth U18/U16 Boys & Girls.

Earlier, Saravana became the first Indian sailor to qualify in consecutive Olympics at Paris 2024. He finished 18th with 114 net points in the men’s dinghy event this year’s Summer Olympics.
