Indian greco-roman wrestlers made a good start to their Ulaanbaatar Open 2025 Wrestling campaign as they bagged one gold, two silver and three bronze on the opening day in Mongolia on Thursday.
Anil Mor starred for India with a gold in the 55kg Greco-Roman division after a pinfall victory against Ulan Muratbek Uulu of Kyrgyzstan.
He had won all his four bouts in Nordic system, earlier in the day.
Meanwhile, Prince and Nitesh secured silver medals in the 82kg and 97kg divisions respectively.
Prince lost the final 0-9 to Asian bronze medallist Shahin Eidimohammed Badaghimofrad of Qatar after Turkiye’s Burhan Akbudak had to withdraw due to injury.
Nitesh, on the other hand, lost a close contest 4-5 to Paris 2024 Olympics bronze medallist Uzur Dzhuzupbekov of Kyrgyzstan. He had overcome Mongolian wrestlers Byambasuren Bat-Erdene, a Paris 2024 Olympian, and Gankhuyag Ganbaatar to enter the final.
Nishant Phogat (77kg), Karan Kamboj (87kg) and Neeraj (67kg) earned the bronze medals in their respective categories.
