Independent shuttler Kisona Selvaduray fell short against higher-ranked Indonesian opponent Putri Kusuma Wardani in the women’s singles Round of 16 match of the Thailand Masters 2025 in Bangkok on Thursday.

The World No.76 made a fine start in her bid to qualify for the quarter-final but struggled to maintain the momentum as she went down 21-13, 14-21, 17-21 in 57 minutes.

She missed out on her maiden quarter-finals berth in the BWF Super 300 event.

It was her second defeat to Kusmua after losing in the Korea Masters last year.

The 29-year-old’s promising start to the career was derailed by injuries. She claimed the Dutch Open title last season.

Later, in December, she paired with Yap Rui Chen to win the Nepal International Challenge title.

In the men’s singles, World No.82 Aidil Sholeh Ali Sadikin crashed out in the second round after suffering a 9-21, 15-21 loss in 33 minutes to China’s World No. 39 Wang Zheng Xing.
