Sudirman Cup 2025: China Overpower South Korea To Lift Record-Extending Title

Hosts China overpowered South Korea 3-1 to lift the record-extending 14th Sudirman Cup in Xiamen on Sunday.

The three-peat champions were favourite to win the title and lived up to their billing.

The hosts got off to a winning start with World No.2 mixed doubles pair Feng Yanzhe and Huang Dongping. The Chinese duo recovered from a second game slip against World No. 2 mixed doubles pair Feng Yanzhe and Huang Dongping  21-16, 17-21, 21-15 in an hour and 24 minutes.

However, South Korea, immediately drew level as Paris 2024 champion An Se-young defeated  World No. 2 Wang Zhiyi 21-17, 21-16.

Chinese fans went behind their national team and they delivered with men’s World No. 1 Shi Yuqi crushing 42nd-ranked Jeon Hyeok-jin 21-5, 21-5 in just 33 minutes.

Later, women’s doubles pair Liu Shengshu and Tan Ning sealed the deal for China with a 21-14, 21-17 victory against Baek Ha-na and Lee So-hee .

Soon after the win, the pair threw  their rackets on the ground in celebration in front of the adoring home support at the arena.
