Special Olympics on Saturday announced Puerto Rico as the host of the 2025 Special Olympics 3×3 Basketball World Unified Cup.

The announcement was made during the FIBA ​​Americup games, and emphasized the cultural relevance of basketball in Puerto Rico, a country that always excels in this discipline at the Special Olympics World and Regional Games.

In the words of Lou Laria, Head of Sports and Competitions for Special Olympics International, “Puerto Rico hosting this global championship feels naturally authentic and aligns perfectly with the spirit of Special Olympics.”

The Special Olympics World Games are held every two years, alternating between the World Summer Games and the World Winter Games.
