Former KKR and RCB batter Shreevats Goswami has suggested the IPL to introduce ‘Best Scouting Award’.
As per Goswami, the award will leverage the franchises to take scouting more seriously and unearth even better domestic talents.
“#IPL should introduce a ‘Best Scouting Award’ with a yearly incentive either by the IPL or the franshices who win the scouting award. This will push franchises to take scouting more seriously, unearth more domestic talent, and strengthen Indian cricket. A win-win for everyone! For the last couple of years it’s has to go to the Mumbai Indians scout,” Shreevats Goswami said on X.
IPL 2025 has already witnessed domestic talents like Ashwani Kumar, Vipraj Nigam, and Vignesh Puthur.
Interestingly the likes of Ashwani Kumar, who returned figures of 4/24 for Mumbai Indians on his debut against Kolkata Knight Riders, was rejected by KKR, CSK, and RR before being picked up by the five-time champions.
Each season, retired players like Parthiv Patel and Tanmay Srivastava are picked up by IPL franchises to scout talent during the domestic season.
IPL has been the ladder to international cricket for plenty of Indian cricketers. The likes of Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Sunil Narine, and Ravindra Jadeja were found and groomed in the lucrative tournament.
The current season of the IPL has completed a week with RCB sitting at top of the table with two wins from as many matches.
