India continues to build towards potentially hosting the 2036 Olympics, with Gujarat Police Academy in Karai, Gandhinagar, to be one of its likely venues.
The 143-acre project will be turned into a sports hub by Populous, a design firm behind the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, known for its innovation in architectural spaces for the world’s most renowned names in sports and entertainment.
The Kansas-headquartered firm has been associated with all Olympic Games since 1996.
It will feature a state-of-the-art athletics stadium and multiple world-class facilities, incorporating reclaimed land from the Sabarmati Riverfront Project.
The state-of-the-art athletics stadium will accommodate 30,000 to 35,000 spectators with an option to expand it to 55,000 via temporary setting. It can host events like the Rugby 7s and football matches.
The project is set to begin in 2025 and complete by 2027.
