Paraguay are bidding to host the 2030 Youth Olympic Games and 2031 Pan American Games, the head of the Paraguayan Olympic Committee (COP), Camilo Perez announced.

In its advanced preparation, Perez met with President Santiago Pena, along side Lopez Moreira, President of the Paraguayan Olympic Committee (COP), and Larissa Shaerer, Deputy Secretary General of the 2025 Asu Junior Pan American Games, to discuss preparations for an upcoming meeting with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach.

President Pena and Perez will travel to Switzerland on January 31 to present their proposal to Bach.

“The Youth Olympic Games are the pinnacle of what we can aspire to organise, given the size of our country,” Perez remarked at a press conference.

Four countries are expected to bid for the 211 nation-event.

The South American nation is also bidding to host the 2031 Pan American Games in their capital city.

Pena has already signed the guarantee to present Paraguay’s candidacy again to Panam Sports, the organizing committee of the Games. The hosting rights will be officially awarded during the Panam Sports Assembly in Asuncion on August 7, 2025.
