Olympian Raiza Dhillon, Bhavtegh Singh Gill Lead Skeet Shooting At 67th National Shooting Championship

Olympian Raiza Dhillon and World University championship gold medallist Bhavtegh Singh Gill on Sunday led the women’s and men’s skeet competition at the Dr. Karni Singh Range, Tughlakabad, in the 67th National Shooting Championship.

Raiza shot rounds of 25, 25 and 24, to take a four-point lead over World Cup medallist Ganemat Sekhon while Zahra Deesawala and Shivani Raikwar were joint-third with 68 after three rounds.

Gill, meanwhile, stamped his authority with 74 in the men’s field of 58 shooters. The 21-year-old shot 25, 24 and 25 followed by Divyaraj Singh, Fatehbir Singh Shergill, Rituraj Bundela, Munek Battula and Olympian Mairaj Ahmad Khan, one point behind.

The race to the podium will be stiff with Olympian Angad Vir Singh Bajwa, Smit Singh, Arjun Thakur and Zorawar Singh Bedi shot 72.

Asian Games silver medallist Anantjeet Singh Naruka shot rounds of 24, 23 and 24 for a total of 71 equalizing the tally of Amrinder Singh Cheema, Man Singh and Abhay Singh Sekhon.

Two more rounds will be shot on Monday and the finals, including, the ones for juniors, will be held on Tuesday.
