Following a runners-up finish in the Champions Trophy 2025, New Zealand will host Pakistan in the first of five-match T20I series at the Hagley Oval, Christchurch on Sunday.
Only seven players from that Champions Trophy 2025 squad will be a part of this New Zealand T20 squad, including their all-rounder captain Michael Bracewell.
Regular captain Mitchell Santner alongside Devon Conway, Lockie Ferguson, Glenn Phillips, Rachin Ravindra and Bevon Jacobs will be unavailable to play for the national team due to their Indian Premier League (IPL) commitments.
The visiting Pakistan side, who were knocked out in the group stage of the Champions Trophy 2025, will be led by Salman Agha. Regular white-ball captain Mohammad Rizwan and former World No.1 Babar Azam are dropped from the side.
It will be interesting to see how Pakistan performs under Agha who is likely to continue leading the side till Asia Cup 2025.
