In a rain-curtailed match, Pakistan notched up 135/9 in 15 overs, thanks to valiant efforts from captain Salman Agha (46), Shadab Khan (26), and Shaheen Afridi (22 not out).
New Zealand’s Jacob Duffy (2/20) continued his fine bowling performance from the first match.
In response, Tim Seifert (46) and Finn Allen (38) notched up an opening stand of 66 runs to put New Zealand in the driver’s seat.
Later, wicketkeeper batter Mitchell Hay (21) played a match-winning cameo to help the hosts sail over the fence with 11 balls to spare.
Pakistan will be eager to go all-guns-blazing in the third match with the series on the line.
