The first edition of Neeraj Chjopra Classic International Javelin Event will take place on May 24, 2025 at the Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Panchkula, Haryana. The event which was named NC Classic has been confirmed by World Athletics.
The World Athletics ‘A’ category event is equal to a Continental Tour Gold-level competition in ranking points. It was launched in 2020 as a successor to the World Challenge series, the Continental Tour is a second-tier global athletics circuit below the Diamond League.
The event will consist of four tiers: gold, silver, bronze, and challenger.
The NC Classic will field the top Indian and javelin throwers from all over the world.
Neeraj will be a part of the organizing committee and said that the event will be an inspiration for Indian athletes.
“It has been a longstanding dream of mine to organise and bring a world-class javelin competition to India,” Neeraj had said. “I am sure that my fellow athletes and the fans in India will both create an experience that will be spoken about for a long time. I am excited to see how big we can make this.”
This will be the first time Neeraj Chopra will compete at home since the 2024 Federation Cup in Bhubaneswar.
The NC Classic 2025 will also be one of the qualification events for the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.
