Following the Barcelona Open, tennis action moves to Madrid, with qualifying starting on Monday and the ATP Masters 1000 event concluding on May 4.

The clay-court ATP Masters 1000 tournament, established in 2002, will take place at the Caja Magica in Madrid, Spain with Alexander Zverev, Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic, Taylor Fritz and Casper Ruud headlining the men’s singles event.

The women’s singles event will be headlined by Aryna Sabalenka, defending champion and second seed Iga Swiatek, and Coco Gauff (USA).

Traditionally, the Madrid Open is played with 96 players in both singles draw. The top 32 players are exempt from the first round, meaning the top players will need to win six matches to claim the title while others will need seven.
