Rohan Bopanna and Ben Shelton clinched a convincing first-round victory against Francisco Cerundolo and Alejandro Tabilo 6-3, 7-5 in the men’s doubles Round of 32 match at the EA de Massy in Monte Carlo-Masters 2025 on Sunday.
Shelton and Bopanna broke their opponent’s serve three times to advance after a 71 minutes contest.
Meanwhile, Karen Khachanov and Andrey Rublev also made a winning start in the Monte Carlo-Masters 2025.
The pair clinched an easy 6-4, 6-2 victory over sixth seeds Nikola Mektic and Michael Venus.
The combination won the ATP Masters 1000 title in Madrid in 2023.
Marcelo Melo and Alexander Zverev were unable to replicate their run this week as they lost to Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool.
The British pair clinched a 6-1, 6-4 to add to their winning momentum.
Cash and Glasspool had lost the Miami Open final last week, losing to Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic in the championship match.
They’re currently third in the ATP Men’s Doubles Rankings.
