In the wake of the Paris 2024 medal row, Monnaie de Paris, the French Mint, has sacrificed three of its top production heads.

Marc Schwartz, the CEO of the organization, was at the forefront of taking this decision after over 100 Olympic medals developed cracks and caught rust, months after the conclusion of the Summer Olympic Games in Paris.

The French Mint’s industrial director Jacky Frehel announced in November that he would be leaving in January.

Eric Matte, the production director responsible for the manufacturing of Olympic medals, has been absent from the organisation since October 2, the elaborate lalettre.fr report states that he was supposed to attend meetings in the days after.

Helene Juton, the head of quality, health, safety and environment, announced her departure on December 13.

The process of their forced departure began on August 15, when the CEO of the Mint Marc Schwartz, recalled the trio from their vacation for a crisis meeting on Quai de Conti,  at the Parisian headquarters of the establishment.

Monnaie de Paris has been struggling with the quality of their medal production even before the Paris 2024.

Telecom giant Huawei works closely with the French Mint to produce work medals that are distributed to its employees. In October 2023, the industrialist highlighted cracks surfacing on the medals, returning a batch of 12,000 medals.
