The Road to Milano Cortina 2026 is in full swing. There will be many sporting events on snow and ice this winter, which will begin to make all enthusiasts around the world breathe the atmosphere of the next Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
Test events are international or national competitions held on the competition grounds that aim to simulate the conditions that will occur in the winter of 2026, when more than 3,500 athletes will arrive in Italy, dreaming of winning a medal at Milano Cortina 2026.
It starts in Bormio at the end of December
The rich calendar of events will open on 28 and 29 December 2024 with the stage of the Men’s Alpine Ski World Cup on the legendary Stelvio slope in Bormio .
The first event of 2025 will be the closing of the Tour de Ski, scheduled on the snows of Val di Fiemme from 3 to 5 January. From Tesero to Cortina, which on 18 and 19 January will be the scene of the Women’s Alpine Skiing World Cup event on another iconic track such as the Olympia delle Tofane.
From 23 to 26 January, Anterselva will shine for the Biathlon World Cup , with the Italian fans ready to cheer on the two Italian stars of the discipline: the multiple medal winner Dorothea Wierer, born and raised in the valley that hosts the competitions, and Lisa Vittozzi, winner of the Crystal Globe last season.
Paralympic test events in Val di Fiemme
At the end of the month (29-30 January), it will be the turn of another major event in Val di Fiemme with the Para Biathlon World Cup, followed on 1-2 February by the same Paralympic cross-country skiing circuit: a four-day event that will see the best cross-country ski athletes test the slopes that, just over a year later (6-15 March 2026), will host the Milan Cortina 2026 Paralympic Games.
The Short Track World Tour Show Comes to Milan
From snow to ice, the Milano Ice Skating Arena is preparing to welcome the Short track shards , for the final stage of the ISU World Tour, complete with the crowning of the king and queen of the current winter. The show is scheduled for February 14 to 16. Then, from February 19 to 20, in the same Milanese arena, it will be the turn of an international figure skating competition, the Road to 2026 Trophy.
Bormio will return to the spotlight on 22 and 23 February with the stage of the Ski Mountaineering World Cup, the discipline that will make its debut in the Olympic programme in Milan Cortina 2026.
Livigno and the freestyle aces, on the other hand, are preparing to amaze fans with the Aerials and Moguls World Cup, scheduled from 8 to 14 March.
The stars of the future in Cortina engaged in the Junior Curling World Championships
From 12 to 21 April, it will be the turn of the rising stars of Curling, engaged in the Junior World Championships. The tournament will be held at the Cortina Curling Olympic Stadium, already home to the 1956 Olympic Games.
An event that will represent another taste of what the XXV Olympic Winter Games of Milan Cortina 2026 will be like, scheduled from 6 to 22 February 2026.
