Former England captain Michael Vaughan reignited his old banter with Indian domestic cricket’s great Wasim Jaffer on Friday.
In a BCCI post, which highlighted the ‘Indian Express 100 Most Powerful Indians’ from the cricket fraternity, Vaughan reshared, asking, What number is @WasimJaffer14?
Jaffer is yet to respond to his counterpart. But the fans took over the comment section and shared various views.
“Above you every time,” one of the fan said.
“Out of your syllabus 😅,” another fan responded.
“He may not be in Indian Express Top 100 list.. but will come at Top in your list!!!,” a third fan made an analogy.
Former BCCI secretary, now ICC Chairman Jay Shetty, is the most powerful Indian among the cricket fraternity at the 24th ranking.
Team India captain Rohit Sharma is second at the 48th spot, rising by 20 places from last year in the Indian Express 100 list of the most powerful people in India in 2025.
“In just eight months, Rohit Sharma’s team ended India’s long drought of ICC trophies. Burying the anguish of losing the 50-over World Cup final, Rohit’s men reclaimed both the T20 World Cup and Champions Trophy, without dropping a single game. His brand has expanded too, with him signing up a dozen deals in the season gone by,” the Indian Express said explaining the reason about the T20 World Cup winning captain’s ranking.
Besides him, former India captain Virat Kohli is at the 72nd spot, while Jasprit Bumrah made it to the 83rd spot.
“Kohli keeps raising the benchmarks in One-Day International (ODI) cricket. He stretched his tally of ODI hundreds to 51, crossed 8,000 runs when chasing totals alone, relished under pressure and set up India’s recent Champions Trophy victory. He also completed the white-ball treble with India’s win in the T20 World Cup. Making the conquest sweeter, he top-scored with a half-century against South Africa on a sluggish surface in the final,” the publication said about the former Indian captain.
