Manika Batra Joins Ma Long-Led Team Asia For Waldner Cup 2024

Manika Batra, India’s top-ranked women’s singles player, has joined six-time Olympic champion Ma Long-led Team Asia for the Waldner Cup 2024, slated to run from December 13 to 15 in Oslo, Norway.

Batra was handpicked by the Chinese table tennis legend to represent his side in the three-day event that will pit the best players from Asia against the world’s best.

Team Asia will include China’s Chen Meng (World No. 4), South Korea’s Jang Woojin (World No.14), Lim Jonghoon (World No. 35) and Shin Yubin (World No. 11), and Kazakhstan’s Kirill Gerassimenko (World No. 41).

The World team, led by its legendary organizer Jan Ove Waldner, will feature Sweden’s Truls Moregard (World No. 9), Germany’s Dimitrij Ovtcharov (World No. 19), Puerto Rico’s Adriana Díaz (World No. 16) Romania’s Bernadette Szocs (World No. 14) and Brazil’s Hugo Calderano.

The Waldner Cup is sanctioned by The Norwegian Table Tennis Association.
