India’s Madhavendra Shekhawat equalled Tejas Shirse’s National Record in the men’s 60m hurdles event at the Big Sky Indoor Track & Field Championships 2025 athletics meet in Arizona, USA, on Saturday.

The 21-year-old Indian athlete clocked 7.64 seconds at the Northern Arizona University track.

In the process, he got the better of Jamaican’s Meet Record holder Jerome Campbell who clocked 7.65s, while Zachary Winger of the USA finished third with a timing of 7.93s.

Earlier, Madhavendra topped the heats on Friday, clocking 7.79s to qualify for the eight-man final. His previous personal best of 7.68s was clocked in Seattle on February 14.

He missed the automatic qualification mark for the World Athletics Indoor Championships 2025. This event will be held in Nanjing, People’s Republic of China, from March 21 to 23. The qualification mark was set at 7.57 seconds.

Madhvendra and Shirse will remain in contention for the World Championships via the Top Performance Lists.
