Kochi Navy Marathon-24 Records Over 5,000 Runners

The Kochi Navy Marathon, hosted by the Southern Naval Command, attracted over 5,000 runners in its fifth edition on Sunday.

The marathon featured three categories — 21-km Venduruthy Run, 10-km Dronacharya Run, and 5-km Garuda Run — starting from the Sagarika International Cruise Terminal in Willingdon Island.

Vice Admiral V. Srinivas, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Naval Command, Rear Admiral Upal Kundu, Chief of Staff, and Rear Admiral Satish Shenai, Chief Staff Officer (Training), flagged off the 5 km, 10 km, and 21 km runs, respectively.

Mohammed Sabeel clinched the 21 km (Open category) while Senegal’s  Collins Kipkrui Sang and Gilbert Kipkosgei took the second and third place respectively.

In the 21 km (Female category), Somya of the Indian Navy secured first place, followed by Bismy Augustine and Rema A.K.

The top three in the 10 km (Open category) were Ajith K., Hemanth Kumar (Indian Navy), and Subhashis Manna (Indian Army), while in the 10 km (Female category), Jincy G., Femine Treesa, and Sub-lieutenant Anouska Yadav (Indian Navy) took the top three spots.
