Target Asian Games Group Scheme (TOPS) Athlete Harshita Jakhar claimed double gold for Rajasthan in the Khelo India Youth Games 2025 on Tuesday.
Jakhar claimed the medals in the Scratch Race and Time Trial (500m) events while her cousin claimed victory in the boys Scratch Race while Mayank Chaudhary won 10m Air Pistol gold to place Rajasthan at the top of the medal standings.
Rajasthan have earned six gold and two silver medals so far.
Notably, Harshita became the day’s main attraction with her valiant effort. Following her selection under the TAGG Scheme of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, she emerged as the girl to beat. She delivered a commendable performance under pressure.
She won the Scratch race, a gruelling event raced over 7.5km, clocking 11.50.973 and doing enough to edge Suhani Kumari (11.51.558) to second place and Akanksha Mhetre (Maharashtra) to third in 11.51.649. Later, she won the Time Trial (500m), ahead of Akanksha Mhatre (Maharashtra) and S Thabitha (Tamil Nadu).
