Kenyan Runners Join Vizag Navy Marathon 2024

The Vizag Navy Marathon 2024 on Sunday recorded 14,000 runners, including, nationals from Kenya, Malaysia, Russia, and Mauritius.

This flagship event on the city’s Navy Day was flagged off at 04:30 am by Vice-Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command, highlighting the opportunity for participants in the world-class race to experience the captivating landscapes of Vizag.

“It was a true celebration of determination, camaraderie, and sportsmanship at the Navy Marathon 2024. It was an overwhelming response to this event. The spirit of the Indian Navy, the people of Vizag, and the contributions from sponsors SBI, IOCL and State administration are highly appreciated,” Rajesh Pendharkar Vice-Admiral, Eastern Naval Command.

The event was classified into 42-km marathon, the 21-km half marathon, and the shorter 10-km and 5-km routes. 

Commander V. Sriramulu (retired), Indian Navy veteran and centenarian, who is also the Iron Man of the city graced the Marathon 2024 with his inspiring presence. He was felicitated by the ENC chief.
