World Champion Rudrankksh Patil added a second gold medal to India’s tally while Arjun Babuta finished seventh in the men’s 10m air rifle event at the ongoing ISSF World Cup in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Patil scored 53.2 in the first five series to take lead. He maintained it through the final while Istvan Peni, the eventual silver medallist, threatened to take his spot only once.

His Indian compatriot Arjun Babuta, meanwhile, struggled to get off the blocks as he only scored 50.4 in the first five shots. He almost became the first shooter to exit but a 10.5 helped him to edge Peter Matthew Fiori by a mere 0.1 points. However, he failed to survive, the next round of eliminations.

The Indians, Patil and Babuta, earlier made it to the final by a 1-2 finish in the qualifying round. Babuta, the Paris 2024 Olympian, topped the chart with 634.5, while Rudrankksh scored 633.7.

Meanwhile, Kiran Ankush Jadhav finished sixth but couldn’t enter the final because he was playing for RPO (Ranking Points Only).

Divyansh Singh Panwar (628.0, RPO) and Hriday Hazarika (624.6) were the other Indians in action.
