Ashutosh Sharma played a whirlwind knock in the IPL 2025 on Monday to guide Delhi Capitals over the line against Lucknow Super Giants in the final over.
Sharma remained unbeaten on 66 off 31 deliveries, including five boundaries and as many sixes, to guide Delhi Capitals to a one-wicket victory. He was adjudged the player of the match after the prolific knock.
“Took the lessons from last year. Missed out on finishing the game on a couple of occasions in the previous season. The whole year I focussed and visualised about it. Had the belief that if I play till the last over, anything can happen. Well played to Vipraj. I asked him to keep hitting. He was very calm under pressure. Want to dedicate this award to my mentor Shikhar paaji,” Sharma told at the post-match interview.
In the dressing room, he was also caught chatting with Shikhar Dhawan on a video call.
Sharma was bought for INR 3.8 crores during the IPL 2025 mega auction.
The former Punjab Kings batter has an average of 36.43 with the highest score of an unbeaten 66. He has two half-centuries to his name and holds the record for the fastest fifty in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023..
