The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) dissolved the Bihar Olympic Association (BOA) for lack of administrative inefficiency, governance, and transparency.
An Ad-Hoc panel was formed by Hockey India Secretary General Bholanath Singh to take interim charge of the state association and conduct fresh elections by March 31.
The decision was taken after the state association sent a legal notice to IOA President PT Usha for appointing a fact-finding commission to probe into complaints against its governance and functioning.
BOA secretary Mushtaque Ahmad called the “unilateral and arbitrary”, highlighting that the IOA decided without giving them an opportunity to respond.
Announcing the Ad-Hoc panel on the recommendation of fact-finding commissioner Hemanta Kalita, PT Usha on Wednesday said: “In view of the observations and recommendation of the fact-finding commission appointed for the Bihar Olympic Association, an ad hoc committee is being formed to look after the affairs of the BOA”.
The other members in the Ad-Hoc panel will include Arun Kumar Ojha, Pankaj Kumar Jyoti, Sanjay Sinha and Arjuna awardee shooter Shreyasi Singh.
The panel will oversee the state’s National Games participation, affiliating various state sports associations, to ensure the BOA constitution is in line with the IOA constitution and conduct fresh elections of the BOA executive committee by March 31, a Hindustan Times report said.
A fact-finding panel was also formed by Usha to probe alleged irregularities related to administration and election for Telangana and Rajasthan State Olympic Associations.
