Telangana’s Nithya Gandhe sprinted to Women’s 100m gold medal by clocking her personal best of 11.41 in the Indian Grand Prix 1 in Bengaluru on Friday.
This was her personal best after clocking 11.57 in the 63rd National Open Athletics Championships, Sree Kanteerava Outdoor Stadium, Bengaluru on August 31.
Gandhe finished 14 seconds ahead of Karnataka’s Sneha S.S (11.55) while young prodigy Abhinaya Rajaraja from Tamil Nadu was at the third spot with a timing of 11.59.
In the men’s 800m event, Haryana’s Krishnan Kumar and Kerala’s Mohammed Afsal finished at joint top spot with a timing of 1:47.09.
Kerala’s Salman Farookh finished at the second spot with a timing of 1:49.84 while Karnataka’s Vaibhav Murti claimed the third spot with a timing of 1:53.48.
