After clinching the T20 series 4-1 at home, Team India will look to add to the momentum in the first of three-match ODI series at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Nagpur, on Thursday.
India’s mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy spun a web around England in the shortest format and was rewarded with a place in the ODI squad. It remains to be seen if he gets a chance to play in the XI, with Kuldeep Yadav sealing a confirmed place as India’s leading spinner for the Champions Trophy 2025.
However, pressure will remain on senior Indian batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who had no say in the Test series Down Under and the recently concluded T20s at home.
The series will be a dress rehearsal for both sides ahead of the Champions Trophy 2025.
There is a lot of awkwardness in the England camp with Joe Root returning to the side, which benefits Harry Brook, Jamie Smith, and Jacob Bethell.
The former England captain will be crucial for his spin prowess, along with Adil Rashid.
