New Delhi will host the final World Boxing Cup 2025 in November and the third World Boxing Congress, the World Boxing, a breakaway international said in a statement on Friday.

This will be the first international event hosted by the Boxing Federation of India (BFI) after it joined the new governing body with reports claiming that it also remains affiliated with the stripped International Boxing Association (IBA).

“I am also very grateful to the Boxing Federation of India for its ongoing support in bidding to host both a World Boxing Cup and our next Congress in 2025 in New Delhi,” World Boxing president Boris van der Vorst said.

It is understood that the negotiations for the World Boxing Cup events are in its final stages.

“To progress negotiations with the National Federations of Brazil, Germany, Kazakhstan and India to host World Boxing Cup events in 2025. The plan is to hold the first World Boxing Cup of the year in Brazil in March 2025, followed by competitions in Germany, Kazakhstan and India. Dates and venues will be confirmed in January 2025,” the World Boxing said in a statement.

The third World Boxing Congress will include elections for the Presidency and Executive Board.

The inaugural World Boxing Congress was held at the Mainarcaden Venue in Frankfurt am Main, Germany on November 24 and 25, 2023.

It hosted World Boxing’s first ever elections when members voted for a range of offices including President, Vice President (VP) and places on World Boxing’s Executive Board along with the Chairs of the Sport and Competition Committee, the Medical and Anti-Doping Committee and the Finance and Audit Committee.

The World Boxing Congress 2024 was held on November 3 2024 in Colorado Springs, USA, following the U19 World Championships.

Meanwhile, Astana in Kazakhstan was selected as the location for the 2027 Elite World Boxing Championships for men and women following a bidding process.
