Haryana’s Suruchi Shows Appetite For Olympics At 67th National Shooting Championship

Suruchi, Haryana’s teenaged-sensation, showed she is destined for more at the 67th National Shooting Championship by clinching the top podium finish in the women’s 10m air pistol event across senior, junior, and youth categories.

This is the same category in which two-time Olympian Manu Bhaker clinched a bronze medal at Paris 2024. Incidentally, she hails from the same district, Jhajjar, where the Paris 2024 history maker hails from.

She finished clinched the women’s 10m air pistol final event title with 243.1 points ahead of Olympian Rhythm Sangwan. In the qualifying round, she scored 585 points to top the charts.

Her fine run in the nationals continued with a gold medal in the in the 10m air pistol mixed team youth category where she combined with Samrat Rana to clinch a 16-2 victory over Uttarakhand’s Abhinav Deshwal and Yashsvi Joshi.

The prodigy relied on mid to high 10s throughout the nationals to showcase her authority.

Karnataka’s Jonathan Gavin Antony and Avanthika Madhu upstaged home favourites Jasvir Singh Sahni and Saina Bharwani 17-13 to win bronze.
