Amenah Al Muhairi Set To Represent UAE

Amenah Al Muhairi, the first Emirati female athlete to represent the UAE in snowboarding, will be a part of the national delegation which is still to be confirmed.

The 15-year-old competed at the Youth Olympic Games in Gangwon last year. She trains in Ski Dubai but maintains her practice for the highest level by training overseas.

“I do freestyle snowboarding, and that comes in two parts. It’s Big Air, which are jumps, and Slopestyle, which are rails, and mixed in with jumps,” she told Aletihad.

She has now set her sights on marquee events, including the Winter Olympics.

“The Olympics is definitely the biggest dream out there, but being one of the top athletes in the industry is definitely a major goal,” she told DXB Today.

The event will feature 1,275 men and women athletes representing 34 Asian  National Olympic Committees.

This edition will feature six major events, 11 sub-events, and 64 disciplines. The six major events are biathlon, curling, ice hockey, skating, skiing, and ski mountaineering.

China had previously hosted the Asian Winter Games twice, in Harbin in 1996 and Changchun in 2007.
