Independent shuttler Kisona Selvaduray and India’s Unnati Hooda powered into the German Open 2025 main draw at the Westenergie Sporthalle, Mülheim an der Ruhr, Germany on Tuesday.
The Malaysian shuttler clinched a comfortable 21-15, 21-10 win over Spain’s Clara Azurmendi in 31 minutes. She had defeated Azurmendi in the Dutch Open semi-finals before lifting the title.
The World No.71 will face India’s R. Santhosh Ramraj in the opening round.
India’s Unnati Hooda defeated her French opponent Anna Tatranova 21-13, 21-16 in the women’s singles qualifier to enter the main draw.
Meanwhile, India’s Rithvik Sanjeevi was knocked out while his men’s singles Tharun Mannepalli won the quarter-finals qualification round to enter the main draw.
Lwi Sheng Hao-Chia Wei Jie crashed out in the qualifying round after a 21-17, 21-14 defeat to Taiwan’s Su Ching Heng and Wu Guan Xun in the men’s doubles round.
The World No.95 reached the Singapore International Challenge quarter-finals last week.

The German Open Badminton 2025 will be the fifth tournament of the 2025 BWF World Tour and is part of the German Open championships, held since 1995. It is organized by the Vermarktungsgesellschaft Badminton Deutschland (VBD) mbH for the German Badminton Association with sanction from the BWF.
