Vietnamese shuttler Thuy Linh defeated India’s Aakarshi Kashyap in a dominating show at the Round of 32 clash of the German Open 2025 on Friday.

The Vietnamese beat her World No.48 opponent 21-14, 21-17 to advance into quarter-finals.

She started with a precise and aggresive approach to establish a lead of 7-3 in the opening game. The Indian, meanwhile, struggled to keep up to the pace of her opponent.

In the second game, Kashyap tried to comeback stronger, with the match looking neck-and-neck at 3-3. However, Linh displayed a better approach to take an 8-3 lead before closing the game at 21-17.

Linh will face India’s Tansim Mir, World No. 72, in the quarterfinals. She is expected to win the contest due to her superior ranking.

Last year, Lin became the first Vietnamese player to reach the German Open final where she fell short to Denmark’s Mia Blichfeldt.
