Malaysia men’s doubles coach Herry IP has set a minimum goal to finish in the German Open Badminton 2025 final for Wan Arif Wan Junaidi-Yap Roy King.

Wan Arif Wan Junaidi-Yap Roy King will have their task cut out at the BWF Super 300 event in presence of South Korean powerhouse Won Ho-Seo Seung Jae.

The World No.19 pair, seeded third, will  face world No. 81 Won Ho-Seung Jae in the last eight. They will lost to the South Korean pair in the first round of Malaysian Open, last month.

“Arif-Roy King have the chance to win the title because they have prepared well. Let’s see what they can achieve in Germany,” said Herry.

“The minimum target I have set for them is the final but I would like to see them go all the way,” he added.

Arif-Roy King can take inspiration from compatriots Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani as the latter had defeated Won Ho-Seung Jae in the India Open final, last month.

The Malaysian pair will open their German Open campaign against World No. 42 William Boe-Christian Kjaer of Denmark, on Wednesday.

World Junior champions Aaron Tai-Kang Khai Xing are the other pair in action. The pair will take on United States’ Chen Zhi Yi-Presley Smith in the first round.

Independent men’s pairs — world No. 26 Nur Mohd Azriyn-Tan Wee Kiong and world No. 41 Low Hang Yee-Ng Eng Cheong — are also a part of the German Open Badminton 2025.

Women’s doubles pair, the World No. 47 Go Pei Kee-Teoh Mei Xing, will play a qualifier and are set to take on China’s Chen Qing Chen-Wang Ting Ge in the second round match.
