Qin Weibo, representing Team Shanghai, won the men’s 60m hurdles gold at the Chinese National Indoor Athletics Championships in Jinan to qualify for the World Athletics Indoor Championships 2025.
Qin clocked 7.56 seconds to set his personal record. The second place belonged to Zeng Jianhang who finished 0.03 seconds behind while Zhu Shenglong finished third in 7.68 seconds.
“I started off with better balance today,” Qin said. “So I had smoother acceleration later and won the race in the end.”
He became the third Chinese athlete after Liu Junxi and Zhu to qualify for the World Athletics Indoor Championship, which began on Friday in Nanjing, east China’s Jiangsu Province.
“I have higher expectations for the outdoor event now,” Qin said. “I usually speed up late in the race. If I can finish the first 60 meters in 7.56 seconds, I can do better in the 110-meter event, maybe better than I did last year. I will go for 13.20 seconds.”
