India made a head start to the Bengaluru Open 2026 as their top-ranked player Sumit Nagal and Manas Dhamne sailed into the second round.
Nagal progressed to the Round of 16 in straight sets. The two-time Olympian regrouped after an early break to defeat his fellow Indian SD Prajwal Dev 6-3, 6-3.
The 2017 champion is the biggest draw in Bengaluru Open. He will face the second seed Harold Mayot of France in the next round.
Meanwhile, Dhamne clinched a 7-5, 4-6, 6-1 upset over fifth seed Matej Dodig of Croatia.
The 18-year-old won 78 per cent of points in his first serve while claiming six of the eight points at the net to register the most significant win of his young career.
