The Badminton Association Of Malaysia (BAM) has formed new pairings after Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei decided to part ways.
Loo Bing Kun will partner with Toh Ee Wei while Chen Tang Jie will partner with Chan Wen Tse for the next five upcoming World Tour events — the Taiwan Open (May 6-11), Thailand Open (May 13-18), Malaysia Masters (May 20-25), Singapore Open (May 27-June 1), and Indonesia Open (June 3-8) — to determine their potentials.
Bing Kun believes his game will elevate while playing along side Ee Wei.
“I didn’t expect this opportunity, and I appreciate BAM for pairing me with Ee Wei. I used to guide Lo Ee, but now I am ready to be a learner under Ee Wei, who has top-quality experience to share,” Bing Kun said after training at the Academy Badminton Malaysia (ABM) in Bukit Kiara on Tuesday.
“In fact, we started training last week after the coaches informed us of the switch. I’m looking forward to stepping up on the international stage.
“This is a great opportunity for progress, but I also need to match the expectations of my senior partner. Naturally, there’s pressure.
“In my previous partnership with Lo Ee, I was the mentor. Now, with Ee Wei, I’m the student. Plus, I’ll get to compete in bigger World Tour events. I hope we can do well in these five tournaments.”
National mixed doubles coach Nova Widianto will be monitoring Bing Kun-Ee Wei’s performances.
“They’ve started training, but it’s too early to say how far they can go. The upcoming tournaments will give us a clearer picture,” said Nova.
Tang Jie will begin training with Wen Tse, who has returned from the Vietnam International Challenge in Hanoi, in the next two days.
Wen Tse reached the semi-finals of the Vietnam IC with Wee Yee Hern.
